Let’s get human!
About a month ago I decided to delve deeper into human motivation and explore elements of our individuality. I started on a mission using LinkedIn’s platform to tell the human-centered story of the fascinating people around us by asking a series of questions and classifying the answers.
One of the strongest ways in which our mindsets affect our daily lives is in how we address challenges. Given the unique challenges that each of us faced during COVID-19, my goal was to memorialize our collective experiences to share thoughts, tips, and tricks in a series of infographics. (coming soon)
While I was manually grouping the results over the weekend I was inspired by the answers and reflecting on the themes that were forming. The benefits of cultivating a growth mentality were clear, but it also got me thinking why do some people tend to fall into a “fixed” mindset? How does someone break out of a “fixed” mindset? What is the negative impact of a fixed mindset on our mental health and general well-being?

Let’s get an attitude of growth!
People with a fixed mindset view failure as a self-fulfilling prophecy. It’s a limited view of your abilities and talents based on bad experiences. Negative experiences happen to us all, and no one is perfect. So how do you bounce back? Well, one key player is: Attitude!
Attitude is one of the most important factors of learning and determines our degree of enthusiasm, i.e. the ability to remain motivated, to expand one’s knowledge, attitude, abilities, and habits. It isn’t about having a “good” or “bad” attitude, but your awareness of your outlook and state-of-mind. Start writing down your success and why you wake up in the morning. Be bold and approach your failures with an attitude of learning and moving forward. Don’t be so hard on yourself, we are all human!

Let’s get some data!!
In the next few weeks, I will come back with a series of blog posts based on your answers! Together we will share knowledge and help each other out. Sharing knowledge with others gives you more insight into your talents leading to greater success and happiness for everyone involved.
It’s not too late to join in with your answers. Just dig deep into your inter Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet, or even Mel Gibson and add your answer to the series of questions here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QYRH9HX
